Her Flowers: 5 Years in the Game

Hey, Besties! I was doing a bit of reflecting the other day and it dawned on me that I am approaching my five-year bloggerversary! I have been blogging for officially FIVE YEARS. Like what is life?! It honestly doesn’t feel like I have been doing this for that long but man, it sure has! As I was reflecting on this journey, I felt led to share my thoughts and feelings about it in hopes that it will encourage any new or seasoned bloggers who aspire to do the same. I’m going to be as transparent as possible because this journey y’all…whew chile lol. So let’s hop right into it, NOW!

I feel like I have shared most of what I’m going to share before, but for those who are new or this is your first time reading my blog (hey girl, heyyy!) I’m going to share again. When I wrote my first post. I had no direction. I didn’t know where to start but I took that first leap. A couple of years later, I say that I absolutely love blogging. Nothing fulfills me more than to help and inspire women and girls all over through the things I am truly passionate about. If I find a major sale on something that might be beneficial to my audience, I love sharing that.

If I’ve tried something that works for me and I know it will work for others, I love sharing that. My heart fills with joy when it comes to providing helpful and valuable information in hopes that it will be beneficial for the well-being of my beautiful audience. Although that has been my focus and the mission behind my brand, it has had its ups and downs. This journey hasn’t been the easiest, to say the least. But we’re going to talk about all of that in this blog post.

I started my blogging journey back in 2018.

Well if we want to get technical here, I was “technically” blogging on Instagram back in the day. So your girl was blogging before blogging was blogging lol. Before Dr. Porshe 911 was born my Instagram name was Many Miles to go! My goal was to document my life as I got older. I was always into scrapbooking. I literally would save every picture of me from elementary and high school. When digital cameras were introduced to the world. My love for photography bloomed. If you go back to my Facebook( which is very embarrassing) you can see that I would take pictures of everything and everyone plus me of course. I was truly finding my way. Fast forward, It was my second quarter of chiropractic school and I wanted an outlet to share my thoughts and feelings, because of the countless hours of studying…. I lost myself.

I wanted to share my experiences of being a young girl from a small town moving to a new big city. I wanted to share my newfound passion for health and wellness. I wanted to share my journey of becoming the first Doctor in my family’s lineage. When they say Atlanta is for Dreamers, Believe it baby. To be honest, I didn’t know if people read my blog or not. I didn’t know much about analytics or anything. But I loved what I was doing, and if what I wrote touched or resonated with someone, my job was done.

Fast forward, my life changed for the better! I was able to live out my wildest dreams and become a Doctor. I was able to travel domestically and internationally. My sister and I opened our chiropractic clinic. I got a couple of cars in the process. I was able to get brand deals. I started a Youtube channel. & so much more that I’m probably forgetting.

About 10 years ago, I made a farewell to high school video on a MacBook Desktop. If you remember the IOS 2013 version of iMovie you would know how fun it is to make a short film. Although I can’t fully remember everything I said in that video, or if my parents still have the MacBook. I ignited my passion for film and visual arts. I felt in my heart to do the same years later. So on top of blogging, I taught myself how to create and edit videos. Although that old video is probably cringeworthy and a hot mess lol, I started my channel and that became a visual extension of my blog. The goal was whenever I posted something on my blog, I would create a visual (so like a tutorial or something) showcasing what I wrote about. I am a visual learner so I wanted to do that for my visual learners as well! However, most of my Vlogs were about traveling.

Fast forward again, after many job rejections, perfecting my craft, and trying my best to learn and evolve within the interwebs, I am still blogging and have been able to monetize my platforms and turn in into a business. I’ve worked with wonderful brands and had some unbelievable experiences, but nothing beats connecting with the women who are inspired by what I do. I had no idea when I started this that this would be where this would lead me. I just woke up one day and said I want to be a blogger.

But with every closed door, every setback, and every NO that was thrown in my face, it always led me back to my online platforms. To be honest, at times I was really bummed that. I didn’t have additional money to buy clothes, bomb wigs, shoes all of the time or afford photoshoots. However, I improvised. I couldn’t afford a super fancy camera or a photographer. Instead of complaining. I went to eBay and purchased my very first fancy camera, the Canon Rebel T6. I invested in a tripod because I was the photographer. I became obsessed with mirrors so I could know my best angles and grow to love my worst angles. I didn’t have any knowledge or education on “being a blogger”, working with brands, or any of that. I didn’t know people could make money from blogging. But God is so faithful and has provided all of my needs and more!
